TGLC #2 - Web Design for A Slice of Heaven Cakes

I mentioned some good news in the previous post and that is... the new web design I've been working on for A Slice of Heaven Cakes has finally launched!
Click the image below to check it out!

I originally started the site from fresh in the summer. The previous one did no justice for the sort of work my mother does and did not display what great talents she has to offer to potential customers. I won't bad talk but will say that the previous web designer she had was not very reliable, was hard to reach, and was full of empty promises thus unable to display her services the way she would have liked to. It really hurt me that my mother was being jibbed for what she paid and I didn't want to see her start questioning her dreams just because of this person not making things work out right.

This was my first attempt using flash. The site was 95% complete by the end of the summer but it took some waiting for Patricia, mommy dearest to get back to me after going through things. There are still a few images needed to watermark and two pages left to work on which is the 'specials' and 'prices'. I already have a template set up for the specials but will need to design them to fit each calendar/ holiday theme. Also pricing for cakes or cookies isn't easy to come up with as each order is different so some mad mathematics are going to be put into place to help deliver a starting price of what cake or cookie platter would cost. Aside from this, I'd like to change the main page around some way to have it flow a little nicer but for now, this will have to do.

I will be collaborating with Patricia in the new year for professional shots of her cakes and desserts aswell as some themed concepts so, keep a look out for that!

I am hoping through this new site design, my mom can get the type of recognition and exposure she deserves. I hope you all enjoy looking through her gallery :)
