LTMU #3 - Play by play

A little late but better than never!

Dec 23: Shopped around Party Packagers early afternoon for some essentials my dessert (I had planned for Christmas Eve's dinner with the family) required. My uncle Mario stopped in town later that evening to pay my sister and I a visit. It's been a while since we've hung out so it was nice seeing him again. Where to? Montanas of course, where I ordered two cheese-filled appetizers to satisfy my evil cheese adoring heart. The place has changed quite a bit since I've last been but it still remains at the top of my list. They changed up the way they serve drinks too. To add to their country cabin style, drinks are now served in Mason jars; I thought that was creative! After almost two hours of gorging and chatting for days, the place started to get really packed and a man sitting across from me who looked like he could pass for Charlie Sheen in his late 50s kept staring at me. We said adios to Monatanas, took our lollipops and strolled over to Starbucks.

{I will let you in on a secret, I am a n00b to Starbucks let alone, the coffee sipping world so when I go there I have no idea how to even order! I recently figured out (on my own) that the drinks under Frappuccino are the frozen/ chilled drinks :/ Every time I ordered it was a surprise for me, whether I'd get a cold drink or a hot drink. Go ahead and laugh. I told my uncle this story while we were there and he couldn't stop making fun of me hrmph >: }

Dec 24: I meant to wake up at 7, instead got out of bed and mosied around the house until about 11am. Once I was officially awake, I headed to the basement where I began to create my secret dessert I had planned for the evening. My family celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve into midnight being Christmas Day. I also made myself in charge of an appetizer. Being home from school for the holidays has really made me want to do something different for a change and surprise the family so, deviled eggs and dessert was all I could come up with haha. Renee helped with some parts of the dessert layering process. It was pretty time consuming but if I was to do it again it'd definitely go by a lot faster.

When the Kris Kringle gift exchange was being done I made a mad dash to the basement, brought up the trays with the dessert, placed each one on the serving plates and for an extra touch, made a design with caramel syrup! I scrambled back and forth from the kitchen to the dinning room setting these puppies at each person's place all while carrying a devious grin on my face *heh heh heh. When they all walked into the dinning room; not really noticing what I had been up to, they were quite surprised. I was happy I got the reaction I expected as lil ol' me hasn't ever done something like this before.

The triumphant trifles, I call them. This trio of dessert-filled shot glasses were an idea I figured out on my own through images I found online. I did my own version by making up my own combinations of flavoring since I was short for time on baking each recipe step by step. It was actually a lot easier for me to figure it out on my own - I guess I'm just good at that sort of thing. I dove right into the chocolate chocolate mousse one that I almost forgot to take a picture! The deviled eggs went really well - I wasn't even able to get a picture of those lol. I'll make sure the next time around to take pictures before serving.

How you can tell it's a dental related family now lol. I made baggies full of dental supplies for everyone :P. For Christmas I ended up getting a perfume, a warm comfy over sized sweater, money, a restaurant gift certificate,  a glass necklace, pyjamas, and some art supplies (I'm really looking forward to) that are coming in the mail. I didn't ask for anything this year since I'm leeching off my parents for tuition and rent -so to speak. I know I'll pay them back once this school year is over; even though they don't expect this from me but, it is something I've set on doing as a thank you in return.

Dec 25: Went to the theatre to watch Mission Impossible with Kris, where the only auditorium playing the movie started having technical difficulties. Long story short, 4 hours later we waited around for another screening and finally got to finish watching the movie - on the plus side, each person was given two movie vouchers for the technical issues. I was very satisfied. Two things I noticed while waiting around: 1) There are A LOT of people who decided to spend their Christmas day at the movie theatre -which I thought was unexpected and 2) This coming year is going to have an INSANE amount of theatre-worth watching movies such as UNDERWORLD, need I say more?

Dec 26: Spent the entire day with Kris and his family. T'was a fun and relaxing time.
