DREAMSCAPES #1 - Vampires At Flight

I had several dreams but between the tossing and turning in bed I'll write about the last one I had as I remember that one the most. The previous dreams are now a confusing mix of scenes from one another and all have of them have to do with school. For the past two weeks all my dreams had to do about going back to school. The last dream dreamt pertains to my family arriving to a place in order to build a flying contraption that would get us all back to another place - which I'm assuming was home.

* * *

It began with my dog Cachito and I walking the streets of Brampton. In my walking, I caught up with a car. I then hopped into the car and could see my mother, sister, and cousins Angela & Alessia were inside. We all travelled along and suddenly the scene changed to me walking alone with my dog (again) in a strange place. I was following a map yet in my mind, the destination was unclear to me. I continued walking straight, the dirt road appeared as an endless path with forestry on both sides. As my dog treaded a few paces ahead of me, sniffing the grass, I replayed a conversation in my head I had with my mother where she said she would meet me there. I felt nervous unsure of where 'there' was. I looked at my phone and saw a small red bar, my battery was dying. I tried calling but there was no service.

Walking a while longer I came to a fork in the road. A little, old wooden, hand painted sign in the middle of the two roads read "Brock University". Quickly looking at the left road, I could see the start of what appeared as a camp site with parked old fashioned metal trailers. I decided to continue in my direction that became the road that splits off to the right. The road began to wind upwards and as I walked, looking through the trees I began to see the shape of a house. My steps getting a little heavier, I knew this was the place I was suppose to be at. Getting closer, it was a Diner with stucco walls and ceramic roofing like the Spanish style architecture. Before even entering, I could hear my sister's voice.

When I got inside, my eyes searched madly for my sister scanning through the numerous bodies. I can't recall what she said but it was something that revealed a glimpse of our kind. I walked up to her, her back was against me and as the head turned and I began to shout, I realized it was not her. I quickly apologized and right after found her with my cousin Angela seated at a table with a group of young guys I did not recognize. I called her name and quickly grabbed her by the shoulders, exclaiming "what are you doing!?". The guys all got up, when I pulled Renee up off her seat, sending one of the their plates to the ground with a loud crashing sound. I apologized and said I'd pay them back for that plate. After a few interjections, I got the girls out of the Diner slyly without paying for the one guy's plate. I went back inside where, in the mass of the crowd and loud sounds of chatter, I saw my mom reading a newspaper. I got her attention and she then met me outside; bringing around the car, my cousins Alessia (11), Ayelen (1), and Maru (adult) joined us.

Maru and I lifted the dust covered, white panel garage door beside the Diner. The inside was like a kitchen from the 70's. Maru told me to go into the cupboard and find something. I got dejavu as I rummaged through the tupperware to find the same square shape as the one Maru placed on the ground outside. In the dim lit garage space, we clipped plastic pieces to each other like a puzzle and tied string while looking for pairs of mittens for each of us. We began to build this contraption called a Mungee and I was it's driver.

The guys from the Diner appeared and I felt a bad vibe. The one with the light brown haired whose plate got knocked over, came up to me with anger baring his fangs. I showed mine, not so afraid now thinking that they were humans and of us being found out. It turns out he was the Vampire Mayor of that area and asked what we were building. The Mungee was an air-traveller that was going to bring us all back home. Although it's construction was not complete, in my mind I pictured it looking like an air glider and hot air balloon combined. We took a break and I began to eat this classic dessert (I knew was a Vampire delicacy) that was being served in the human Diner. A small glass carrying a strawberry banana smoothie topped with what looked similar to a Swedish berry gummy. The Mayor's eyes widened as he asked where I had found it exclaiming, "They only serve this every 6 months". We walked to the Diner's take-out window where an old woman preparing the dessert drinks raved, "They use to sell these every 6 months but now it's every 6 hours".

We got back to building the sky traveller. After a while, I turned around -my back no longer facing the entrance of the garage, the dirt road and trees were gone. Instead, there was a paved road with subdivision homes and cars that occasionally droe past. The inside of the garage also changed and followed the look of the subdivisions. I heard Kris's voice coming from the top of a set of stairs inside the garage, asking of my whereabouts. He then came down the stairs and was greeted by the Vampire Mayor. Kris ran out of the garage and began to fly. He flew farther and farther out. The Mayor and I called him back and when he returned he was fully transformed into a gargoyle type creature. The last words I remember was the Mayor saying "Ladies first".

I woke up to the sound of a text from Kris.
